He’s still trying to figure that out.
But he thinks he does know some things.
Jim is what one might call a born writer. He loves to write. He is driven to write. He’s always writing something.
He started trying to write fiction (novels and short stories) as a teenager. But he also had a love for science and the unknown — wanting to understand how the universe works. With his natural curiosity, the universe won for many years.
He is generally a quiet, self-effacing person who doesn’t like crowds and just tries to get things done.
He has a sense of humor, but some people think it’s a little odd at times.
He was always a little “different.”
He is the husband of an (almost) perfect wife who (occasionally) puts up with his imperfections.
He questions things, sometimes almost to a fault. He has discovered that there never seem to be enough good or right answers.
He believes that we are what we do, not necessarily what we say or what other people tell us or think of us.
He believes that there is more to reality than what we see with our eyes or perceive with our other material senses. He tries to figure this stuff out, but it generally leads to frustration.
He believes that there is what might be called, for the uncertainty of a better term, a spiritual being. All lifeforms have this type of being, including animals and plants. At least for humans, this being is independent of and superior to the material being.
Unfortunately, his time today is limited by mandatory duties — wife support, home-vehicle-and-computer maintenance, housekeeping, never-ending yard work, and a vegetable garden where weeds want to dominate.
He spends as much time as he can with his other love, writing fiction. He has completed novels, children’s picture book texts, movie and TV pilot scripts, flash fiction, and other forms. He’s seeking agents and publishers for his unpublished works. See sample text from some of these here.
With broad interests, he is probably capable of writing in most any genre, but his primary writings and interests involve sci-fi and the supernatural/paranormal (though generally not the violent or scary kind), maybe with a love story/romance or some miraculous achievement thrown in.
His inspirational picture book titled Sara and the Lonely Horse involves a story where what seems to be a miracle occurs after a young girl with cancer and a horse bond.
He’s an active member of two local writer groups. It used to be four, but he had to cut back. He’s a Premium member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI).
He has several social media accounts, but doesn’t have much time to spend on them. It’s amazing how setting aside a few minutes to view them can turn into hours. They are generally more a time sink than something useful.
