He’s still trying to figure that out.
But he does know some things.
Jim is what one might call a born writer. He is driven to write.
And he was always a little “different.”
He started trying to write fiction (novels and short stories) as a teenager. But he also had a love for science and the unknown — wanting to understand how the universe works. With his natural curiosity, the universe won. Unfortunately, as he grew up and matured, he learned that the current science paradigm is not the end-all, be-all. But even with its human-associated flaws, it’s the best we have right now, if properly applied, for gaining that understanding.
He questions things, sometimes almost to a fault. He discovered that there are never enough good or right answers.
He believes that there is more to reality than what we see with our eyes or perceive with our other material senses. There is what might be called, for the uncertainty of a better term, a spiritual being. All lifeforms have this type of being, including animals and plants. At least for humans, this being is independent of and superior to the material being.
He believes that we are what we do, not necessarily what we say or what other people tell us or think of us.
He is generally a quiet, self-effacing person who doesn’t like crowds and just tries to get things done.
He has a sense of humor, but some people think it’s a little odd at times.
He is the husband of an (almost) perfect wife of 38 years who puts up with his imperfections.
He spends as much time as he can with his other love, writing fiction. Unfortunately, that time is limited due to other duties — housekeeping, maintenance, never-ending yard work, and a vegetable garden where weeds dominate. He has completed novels, children’s picture books, movie and TV pilot scripts, flash fiction, and other forms. He’s seeking agents and publishers for his unpublished works.
He’s an active member of two writer groups. It used to be four, but he had to cut back.
His most recent publication, a picture book titled Sara and the Lonely Horse, was released in May, 2024. It’s an inspirational children’s picture book where a miracle occurs after a young girl with cancer and a horse bond.
With broad interests, he is probably capable of writing in most any genre, but his primary writings and interests involve sci-fi and the supernatural/paranormal (but not the violent or scary kind), maybe with a love story or miraculous achievement thrown in.
